Craig came out towards the back of the pack and steadily moved up, sitting behind the lead rider (Baker) for most of the second lap and then pulling ahead. We never lost the lead after that and handily passed everyone by the 7th rider. Brown tried to claim that they won, but one of their riders only rode one lap. See Rory Mays on the bike. *Larry collided with one of the Martel alum "runners" toward the end of his first lap. The race was stopped a few minutes later, and the organizers decided to end the race with no winner. Recap: Drew came out in the middle of the pack, and rode smartly to pull us into first toward the end of his 2nd lap. Ted came out just behind Brown and GSA, grabbed a wheel for the first lap and then tore it up on the 2nd lap to give us a solid lead. Rebecca and Elliud kept us ahead, and Beer-Bike rookie Dave Garraway turned in a smoking time of 1:21 to pull us within reach of lapping 2nd place Brown. Anne put in a solid 1:39, and Larry had a speedy first lap before being knocked out (literally) by the Martel "running" team. Fortunately, Larry was okay (after a trip to Memorial Hermann) but this is just further proof that Martel is not a college.
